WHAT CAN WE DO FOR YOU?
We are in a position to provide a sort of youth
"boot camp". Although we don't have the necessary psychological
training/resources for SERIOUSLY troubled youth, we believe we have something
valuable to offer:
•
We are licensed by the State of Wyoming as a foster home with a
capacity of four children.
• We have the resources to provide a temporary home/lifestyle on a working Wyoming ranch for (non-dangerous) troubled youth.

LIVING
ARRANGEMENTS/DETAILS:
Depending on the individual(s) -- the niceties of our home could be shared. Our concerns are obviously in ensuring the
welfare of the children currently in our home: Jason, 20, a huntin’/fishin’ nut; Jackee,
18,
a very social girl with a special relationship with her animals; and Jaden, 8, who
has become the glue that binds our family.
LIFESTYLE:
In addition to shelter and home-cooked meals we can provide a family lifestyle complete with younger children for older individual(s) to mentor. We play a lot of card and board games and consider our lifestyle to be a relaxed and calm (but hard-working) way of country living.
Each individual would have a horse to call their own while they were here and
would develop personal relationships with us as well as the animals. They would
be expected to work alongside us, learning as we go. There will be cattle work
(a LOT of riding), irrigating, feeding, haying, fencing, road work with a
cat and backhoe, maintaining a pipeline, rebuilding barns and corrals, equipment
maintenance, etc.
Additionally, in the summer months we provide trail rides/camp cookouts for small groups as well as working ranch vacations for larger groups. Hunting season provides similar experiences utilizing the same facilities. Depending on the individual(s), they might help with this too.
LOCATION:
We are
remotely located six miles from the nearest highway and are an hour's drive
from the closest town. We can control the keys to all of our vehicles and any
unauthorized absence from the ranch would have to be via horseback!
PERSONAL INFORMATION:
Due to
recent changes which we have implemented in our own lives - there is rarely
alcohol in our home... and there never has been any presence of drugs.
SCHOOL/COUNSELING::
Transportation
to school and/or nearby counseling is available.
SUMMARY:
We can provide a home life to someone who has never had one; 57,000+ acres of wide open spaces for country living to someone who has only known the city lights; a big brother or sister to someone who might benefit; we can teach someone how to work who may have never had to and/or may have never known the rewards and
self-satisfaction to be derived; we can provide a drug-free atmosphere to
someone who needs a break from easy temptations; we can build self-esteem and
self-reliance and we are a family who genuinely cares.
If you know of someone who might benefit from what we have to offer please keep us in mind.
